I am tired as I only slept 4 hours last night, but I wanted to post. There was jazz music in the piazza tonight and almost every song had a strong tie to me. I am not joking, it was surreal.
Examples:
-'New York, New York" was sung. I am from NY and Sinatra is a staple of growing up there. This song is always played at weddings in NY.
-I have been a Fred Astaire fan since I was a little girl (5 or 6) they sang "Cheek to Cheek"
-I love to dance and listened to Earth, WInd and Fire album 1000 times in Jr High. My favorite, "September" was sung tonight.
-They played Benny Goodman, I love that music.
-They ended with "R.E.S.P.E.C.T" so I sang along!
I love to dance, so I was bopping along gently. I was very surprised not to see anyone else moving, not even a foot. What's going on here?
I walked around the outlying areas earlier today, almost got lost. Recovered when I saw the train tracks. I noticed the people were not as friendly. 3 people did not return my 'buongiorno'. :(
I ate a peach that I got from the farmers market, I almost cried it was good. Truly.
I started another book, fiction by Rilke (I though all he wrote were poems).
I am too tired to write out a few of the opening lines, but it fit me and my experiences in Italy to a "T".
Signing off for now. Wish me luck tomorrow on the train system. :)
Ciao!
