Little things to remember

Santa Croce in Piazza S.Francesco, here in town, there is a small wooden sculpture of Jesus (with a cherub on each side) who looks down from high on the wall. It is the sweetest and most child-like Jesus I have even seen. It was a lovely experience to have him looking down at me with such utter kindness and joy.  (almost cartoony, but that does not do it justice at all)

In Assisi Friday, I noticed some mythological symbols in the huge basilica of S. Francis:
-spiral shapes (painted on walls)
-a woman riding on a lion (sculpture)
-the 2 triangle star (star of david, painted on walls)

Also in Assisi in a smaller church, on the wooden door, what looks like 'the green man' the man of nature/spring , who is born in the spring and dies in the winter.  (sound familiar?)  On an alter there, there were swastika symbols all along the bottom edge. (symbol also found in Indian culture, usually means movement, wind, energy)

I thought it was interesting.

Ciao, p
