It's market day, it must be Wednesday

I woke up to road work noise, but it wasn't too early, around 7am.  It often feels like NYC with the motorcycles zooming by after midnight and lots of social activity.  It's all good.

It was not a misty morning as it was yesterday.   I once again enjoyed the view from the smaller window, blue sky against the gold and orange hued houses.  When I got up, I opened the shutters on the french-door style window and hear the 'flaflaflafla' of the pigeons flying off the opposing rooftop.

Magical.

I wasn't sure if I would run today as my feet are still reddish and a bit swollen.  After about 15 minutes, I thought I would give it a try.  It often sets my mood for the day and I wanted to be able to enjoy today without harping on last night's broken glass fiasco.

It was a good run.  I felt good the whole way. At home I run on a track at the local high school, 6 laps = 1.5 miles.  I am pretty sure I am doing that here, maybe a bit more.  The run along the Tiber is relaxing. It is easier for me to run on the gravel/dirt than it is on the pavement at the other park here I used to run on.

I took a shower and off to the market.  They sell a lot of plants here. I love the green plants with the tiny red peppers on them.  Too cute.

I buy from the smaller venders, where there is a sign about them being a local producer.  I bought some grapes (big globe purple ones), celery (first time), lettuce, parsley (first time) tomatoes, cantaloupe (first time) and a very long cucumber that was more than a bit phallic.  :)  I think I blushed what I handed it to the man to weigh it.

The reason I bought the melon was because the nice lady at the cheese truck suggested it when I pointed to a new ricotta. It is shaped like a huge pear and it is rolled in nuts or something.  I will try it later in the day.  I also bought a small piece of a soft pecorino cheese.  I just ate some of that with the grapes, o momma mia that was a beautiful combo.  It has a strong taste but the balance of the grapes, perfecto!

I bought 3 sausages from the porchetta vendor.  I will cook them up tomorrow with some peppers.

It is almost half past noon. I am going to go to the cafe' and enjoy a cappuccino and read some more about Yeats.  I also had 2 vivid dreams this morning and I am going to write them out more fully for myself.

The days seem to be moving at much a quicker clip, I need to savor each minute.

Nice relaxing day so far and my new ring, I am tickled pink with it.

Ciao
